The second edition of the Mauritius Cinema Week was successfully held from 18th – 21st October 2018.

With the aim to promote the Mauritian Film Industry, the Mauritius Cinema Week is an annual event branded as ‘East meets West’ with this year’s focus on the business opportunities in the sector.

During the event, emphasis was placed on the current transformation of Mauritius into a financial market, where film producers can avail themselves of Completion Guarantee Bonds and other facilities such as capital raising and loans for their projects. In addition, new insurance products have been introduced, such as the Film Producers Indemnity Insurance (FPI).

Since the introduction of the Film Rebate Scheme (FRS) in 2013, film producers have invested some MUR 2.04 billion (USD approximately 60 million) in Mauritius. The Film industry is seen as having a high potential to boost the growth of the Mauritius economy with opportunity for employment creation and investment.
