COVID-19 Mauritius Update: Extension of the Lockdown Period

Article Published on April 10, 2020

In a press conference held earlier today, the Prime Minister of Mauritius announced that the Lockdown Period has been extended until 4th May 2020 (previously planned for 15th April 2020) in a bid to counter the spread of the COVID-19 virus across the island.

As of the date of this writing, the country counts 318 patients who have been tested positive for the COVID-19 and 9 deaths linked to the pandemic. As expected, the number of affected persons has grown over the past few days but it must also be highlighted that Mauritius has fared well in comparison with the COVID-19 projections issued by the World Health Organization.
