Covid-19 update @ 7 March 2021: Reinstatement of WFH policy at ITL
Article Published on March 8, 2021
Mauritius was declared covid-free since June last year, thanks to the timely response of the Government that required the close collaboration of the public. However, the Covid-19 being what it is - an invisible threat – has found its way back to the island and several cases of the virus have been confirmed since Friday 5 March 2021. As of the date of this writing, there are 8 active local cases and around 30 imported cases, who have all been placed in quarantine and are being provided with the necessary treatment in line with the established protocol.
Given that all the local cases relate to mostly employees of the same company and their close ones, the Government has decided not to implement a lockdown at this stage. Nevertheless, a contact tracing exercise and a probe into the reasons that have led to the local spread of the virus are currently underway. Also, incoming commercial flights will not be allowed until 15 March 2021 although there are no such restrictions on outgoing flights. The position may be reviewed by the Government in light of the evolution of the situation.
At ITL, we remain focused on the well-being of our employees whilst ensuring that our service level remains unaffected. As a safeguard measure, ITL Management has decided to reinstate its Work-From-Home (WFH) policy as from Monday 8 March. Management firmly believes that professional success is not reliant on location if there is the proper virtual workplace infrastructure in place.
As previously communicated, our WFH facilities have been tried and tested for a number of years already and these are fully compliant with our data privacy and data security protocols. Therefore, our operations, other than those that fall beyond our control, will remain unaffected. Your contact persons at ITL will remain primarily reachable by e-mail. Understandably, we will be restricting physical meetings to a minimum until further notice. For any urgent meetings, we advise that you get in touch with your relationship manager to decide on the way forward.
We invite you once more to view our short video on our WFH facilities, which will provide you with an overview of our tried and tested virtual platform.
