Mauritius and Seychelles: Strengthening economic ties

The President of the Republic of Seychelles – H.E. Wavel Ramkalawan – is all praise for Mauritius during his three-day state visit to the country at the beginning of December 2020. He commended the Mauritian private sector which has been a driving force for the economy. He further acknowledged the growing presence of Mauritius across diversifying sectors within the Indian Ocean and Eastern and Southern Africa, including Seychelles, and extended his invitation to Mauritius business parties to further seek investment opportunities in the multiple sectors in Seychelles namely the blue economy, aquaculture, fishing education, healthcare, ICT and recreation sectors.

President Ramkalawan also underlined the resilience of the Mauritian economy in the midst of the pandemic crisis.

During his meeting with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, President Ramkalawan discussed on ways to strengthen economic ties between both countries. Furthermore, 2 Memoranda of Understanding were signed on Cooperation in the field of Security and Crime Combating between the Seychelles Police Force and the Mauritius Police Force, and on Cooperation in Information and Communication Technology between the Government of the Republic of Mauritius and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles.
